Building Useful Systems, Solving Difficult Problems, Creating Measurable Value

Over more than two decades, I have worked across geospatial analysis, data science, automation, machine learning, and technical architecture to build systems that save time, reduce cost, improve decisions, and expand what teams are capable of doing.

My work has consistently sat at the intersection of technical depth, business value, and practical implementation.

What My Work Has Delivered

Throughout my career, I have focused on problems that matter to the business and on solutions that create lasting value. Some of that value has come in the form of automation, where repetitive manual effort was replaced with scalable, reliable processes. Some of it has come through analytics and predictive modelling, where data has been used to support better decisions, identify opportunities, and reduce risk. Some of it has come through platform and system design, where teams have been given better infrastructure, cleaner data, and the ability to work in ways that were not previously possible.

The common thread across all of this work is usefulness. I want the things I build to solve real problems, fit the reality of how people work, and continue delivering value over time. I care about technical quality, but I care just as much about adoption, maintainability, and impact.

The most valuable work I have done has not just solved a problem once. It has changed how people work going forward.
Scope of Work

Where I’ve Created Impact

Automation

I have built automations that removed repetitive effort, increased consistency, and freed teams to focus on higher-value work. These solutions have saved hundreds of hours while improving reliability and reducing operational friction.

Predictive Analytics

I have developed predictive models and analytical frameworks that supported better planning and decision-making, contributing to significant financial value and helping organizations act with greater confidence.

Data Platforms

I have designed and implemented governed data environments that brought together source systems, improved access to trusted data, and created a stronger technical foundation for reporting, analytics, and modelling.

Applications

I have built practical applications and tools that put data and analytics directly into the hands of users, making systems more usable and insights more accessible.

Cross-Functional Problem Solving

Some of my strongest work has come from partnering with experts outside the data field, learning their domain, and building solutions that reflect the actual complexity of their world.

Capability Building

I have invested heavily in teaching, mentoring, and helping others grow into technical confidence so that the value created extends beyond any one system or project.

Platform and Architecture Work

One of the clearest examples of my approach was building a Databricks environment from the ground up for a human resources organization. That work included live API integrations to systems such as Workday and SAP, the development of a governed medallion-style data lake, careful access design at the schema and dataset level, and the creation of automations and predictive models supporting core business scorecard metrics.

What mattered in that work was not just the technical build, but the fact that it created a functioning, scalable environment tailored to the needs of the organization. It provided a foundation for analytics, governance, reporting, and future capability, not just a one-time deliverable.

Breadth Across Functions

I have worked across a wide range of business functions, including land, environment, regulatory, human resources, finance, engineering, and operations. That breadth has made me comfortable entering unfamiliar domains, asking the right questions, and quickly building enough contextual understanding to contribute meaningfully.

I enjoy that process. Some of the most rewarding work in my career has come from working shoulder-to-shoulder with people who know their domain deeply, then combining that knowledge with technical design and implementation to create something genuinely useful.

From Individual Contribution to Broader Influence

While I am fully capable of working hands-on, my strongest contributions often come when I can combine execution with architecture, prioritization, mentorship, and direction-setting. I am particularly effective in roles where I can help shape what gets built, how it is built, and how others are brought along in the process.

I enjoy being close enough to the work to understand its details, while also operating at a level where I can influence systems, standards, and long-term technical capability.

How I Measure Success

I measure success by more than technical completion. A successful project saves time, improves decisions, reduces confusion, creates trust in the data, and makes future work easier. It gives users something they can actually rely on. It leaves behind stronger systems and stronger people.

The best outcomes in my career have come from combining technical skill with curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to engage deeply with messy, ambiguous problems. That combination is where I tend to create the most value.

I do my best work when I can turn ambiguity into structure, complexity into clarity, and technical possibility into practical results.
